MPEDesigned specifically for on-foot traffic control. The MPE is perfect for police, fire police, construction site traffic controllers, etc. The average range is 300 to 500 feet, making it perfect for urban and suburban traffic control situations where a fixed vehicle-mounted product is either cost prohibitive or impractical, or fails to increase the margin of safety for those on-foot personnel.

Police and Fire Police are often called upon to direct emergency vehicles that are unequipped with preemption through congested intersections, as well as directing traffic around accident scenes. Clearing the traffic lanes can be less hazardous and difficult when the officer can preempt the intersection. When emergency vehicles are converging upon an intersection from several directions, an officer on foot has much greater traffic control flexibility than a fixed vehicle-mounted unit.

In those situations where preemption would offer controlled and extended traffic flow in one direction only, such as traffic diversion around an accident or during construction/repair at an intersection, a hand-held unit offers the greatest flexibility while simultaneously increasing the margin for safety.

Perfect for testing intersection-equipped preemption detectors. System testing within the intersection allows for the close range observation of the changing traffic signal sequence. The lower power output makes "benchmarking" the operational reception range of the preemption detectors more accurate. See the FAQ Testing & Benchmarking Preemption Detectors for more information.
